1. What were the creative limitations faced by ITV by the imposition of Lockdown rules?
Lockdown rules stated that all fiction based TV production had to be stopped because fiction, unlike real news, is not defined as key media work. This was enforced as the number of people, travel and amount of close contact involved was a health risk. Due to this the ITV team couldn't film somewhere in the Bahamas or anywhere else for that matter; actors also had no make-up department so what was done was by family members.
2. What was the impact on technical crew of Lockdown restrictions?
Since there was to be no close contact involved the crew had to send the actors the equipment and then debrief them on how to use each piece through a video call. This might be the reason of the below par audio on some of the episodes.
3. What creative solutions were found for each of the following production stages:
- Writing - Rehearsals - Filming - Editing
The writing of the show was done by individual people so there was to be no contact and they could have sent over their work to others for improvement etc...
Rehearsals would have been very easy to complete as it was only the actor to blame if anything were to arise.
Filming was most likely the difficult part for ITV as the people responsible for handling and using the equipment probably had 0 experience of using it prior to filming. To help with the process it is shown that the team were on a video call and could help if anything did go wrong and they would remedy it back to working order.
I assume editing the short TV show was no different from other TV shows and probably was just all about shortening the video and making different cuts here and there.
